We're bringing our popular "Barflies" event back for the winter season. This year we'll be meeting at Reverie Brewing Company at 57B Church Hill Rd in Newtown. We welcome all members and guests, and anybody who would like to learn about fly tying. The chapter has many experienced tyers and all are willing to teach the tricks of the trade.
For our first Barflies of the season we will focus on Steelhead patterns to get ready for our Salmon River Trip November 15-17. The November FOM is the Egg pattern so we’ll bring some materials to show all how to tie an effective egg pattern. These are simple patterns so they’re perfect for beginners that are excited about getting into fly tying. Additionally, we’ve included here a link to a YouTube playlist created by Dave Surowiecki that includes how-to videos on a dozen different Steelhead patterns. There are some great patterns in here to help you fill up your Steelhead fly box.
Don’t worry if you don’t have all the tools. The chapter has some vises you can use and our experienced tyers will bring all the other necessary stuff. We’ll also order in some pizzas and bring some other snacks and of course there’s all the great beer selections from the Reverie. So come on out to Barflies and learn the secrets of tying successful flies that will catch fish.
