Chasing Brown Trout & Steelhead in Western New York
After taking a summer break, Candlewood Valley Trout Unlimited is back with our first Chapter Gathering of the fall! Join us on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Stony Hill Fire Department in Bethel for an evening of fishing stories, chapter updates, and a presentation from angler Hunter Bulak.
Hunter is a dedicated trout and steelhead angler who has spent years exploring the rivers, creeks, and tributaries of New York and the Northeast. His passion is chasing brown trout and steelhead, from wild browns tucked into small streams to migratory fish pushing into Great Lakes tributaries.
He spends much of his time learning new water, reading changing conditions, and figuring out where fish move throughout the seasons. That experience has given Hunter a unique perspective on finding fish in a wide variety of waters and adapting to whatever the river throws at you.
Hunter will share some of his experiences and insights into pursuing brown trout and steelhead throughout the Northeast, including the challenges of learning new water, understanding seasonal fish movements, and putting the pieces together when conditions change.
Back Together for the Fall
After a couple of months away from our regular gatherings, we're looking forward to getting the CVTU crew back together. The September gathering is always a great opportunity to catch up with fellow members, swap stories from summer fishing adventures, and start thinking about the fall season ahead.
As always, we'll kick things off with pizza and beverages at 7:00 PM, followed by our 50/50 raffle, chapter updates, and Hunter's presentation.
Come hungry, bring your fishing stories, and bring a friend who's interested in fly fishing, trout, or just spending more time on the water.
